Main Article Content
Abstract
Georgia has participated in many battles throughout its history, since the country was in such a geopolitical location that it was an economically important and strategic location for all conquerors. That is why Georgia was constantly the target of various invaders, who subsequently conquered Georgia. However, the country had periods of both decline and rise. Over the centuries, kings were born who, with their talent and foresight, would emerge as the saviors of Georgia. It is precisely the legacy of such powerful kings that Georgia exists and maintains its statehood to this day.
This work presents the period of the second half of the 11th century, when the country, divided into principalities and the population of Georgia, deprived of enemy invasions, was in despair. In addition to external enemies, the country was being treacherously destroyed by internal enemies of Georgia. However, at this time, King David the Builder appeared as the savior of the country, who, with his wisdom, education, and far-sightedness, brought glory and stability to Georgia.
The work describes how the conquering Turkish Seljuks tried to eradicate and destroy the agricultural culture that had been revived in Georgia for a century. This period is referred to in history as the "Great Turkic Empire", which was a great black spot in Georgia at that time.
The work discusses the strategy and military reforms of David IV, who liberated the fallen Georgia from the invaders and prevented their invasion of the country. Also, during his reign, the country's economy was strengthened, the fragmented Georgia was revived and unified. The state was effectively governed by the governing bodies established by King David. The result of these reforms was that Georgia at that time was a leading state in the geopolitical space. For this reason, the grateful Georgian nation called the king David the Builder.
