The evolution of threats to civilians in modern conflicts

Abstract

Advances in military technology have dramatically increased the capabilities of weapons and military equipment - in terms of impact, scale and range. The extent of damage, destruction and secondary effects has also increased. All this significantly increases the dangers and risks for the civilian population, which prompts specialists to study the problem and develop recommendations to reduce them.


This article also addresses this issue by looking at the physical, indirect or structural, psychological and social dangers associated with modern warfare and based on them:



  • Direct physical impact and the resulting damage;

  • Humanitarian crises and displacement of population;

  • Economic and social fluctuations.
